Film screening, with live music from The Dreaming Spires.

The Dreaming Spires are proud to present a screening of the new Big Star film, Nothing Can Hurt Me, in association with the Ultimate Picture Palace.

The film is a feature-length documentary about legendary Memphis band Big Star. While mainstream success eluded them, their three albums have become critically lauded touchstones of the rock music canon. With never-before-seen footage and photos of the band, in-depth interviews and a rousing musical tribute by the bands they inspired, the film is a story of artistic and musical salvation.

Ever since a friend introduced Big Star to the members of Dreaming Spires the sound and songs have played a big part in the lives and music of band members Robin and Joe Bennett, and heavily informed their sound. The band (and friends) will bookend the screening with live performances of some of their own material and perhaps even some Big Star favourites too…
