31hours: Some people would use their birthday to rest on their laurels and invite back their most successful acts, but that’s not the GTI way, so instead they’ve given a slot to a young, fresh local pop outfit. 31hours proffer bouncy, afro-inflected art indie, with ample energy – but there’s also plenty of thought given to texture and arrangement, and the odd mathy, Floydy psychedelic skyline behind the tunes.

Unknown Soldiers: Like doom with the metal surgically removed, a blurry whirlwind of Joy Division, Nick Cave, Julian Cope and rousing rock melodies.

Sylva Kay: Having previously fronted bands on both sides of the Atlantic, Sylva Kay now resides in Oxfordshire, bending her grungy muse to solo material, and is currently working on her second album.
