Big Scary Monsters seeking intern for Oxford office

The Big Scary Monsters record label, home to a metric tonne of wonderful noise past and present (like Andrew W.K., DZ Deathrays, Minus The Bear and Gnarwolves), have just moved into an Oxford centre office near to the railway station.

To aid with doing whatever it is a label does all day, they’re looking for intern, and describe their needs as follows…

“We are looking for a couple of friendly faces to help brighten the place up. At the moment this is just an intern role which sadly means it’s unpaid (except for all the free music, merch and gigs your heart may desire). For this reason we’re only considering candidates from the immediate area. Would be perfect for a student looking to gain a little experience in the music industry. The position is part-time, one or two days a week (depending on availability) up until the Christmas break, and the responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with small PR campaigns
  • Maintaining the website and social networks
  • Finding/creating and uploading content to the internet
  • Helping with admin tasks
  • Organising stock deliveries
  • Listening to demo submissions
  • Massaging bands egos

“It should go without saying but we’re looking for someone intelligent, hard working, creative, fun and willing to learn. Prior knowledge of the industry and our bands is a bonus, as is experience with HTML and Photoshop. People thinking that this role means their band will get signed need not apply.”

So… interested? Get yersel’ over to their website at bsmrocks.com to find out more and explore their world, or send a CV to bsmrocks@gmail.com. The deadline for applications is 17 October. Good luck!
