MusicInOxford.co.uk's Gigs Of Note

Gigs of note for 4 August 2014-17 August 2014

Wilderness festival (Thursday 7 August-Sunday 10 August @ Cornbury Park): At one end of the festival spectrum this weekend is Wilderness, the lush and refined gathering of music, art, theatre and food. Music-wise it offers Metronomy, Burt Bacharach and a lot more; it’s likely to be full of surprising spectacle.

Supernormal (Friday 8 August-Sunday 10 August @ Braziers Park, Ipsden): At the other end of the spectrum is Supernormal, a solidly-leftfield few days of freakish fun. The line-up includes weird-music greats like Gnod, Henry Blacker and Teeth Of The Sea; it’s an event that’ll reward broad minds.

Karma To Burn / Desert Storm / Hatemail / Evavoid / Overlord (Friday 15 August @ O2 Academy 2, Oxford): Popping up towards the end of a quiet week gig-wise, this one will be noisy enough to fill a hole. The awesome, riff-heavy rock’n’roll of Karma To Burn will be evenly matched against the combined weight of a very strong set of support acts.

Full details of these and loads more gigs can be found in the events calendar.

Let’s not forget Dead Kennedys are also playing the O2 Academy on Friday 15th with support from Fizzy Blood, Douglas PK (Jim from Junkie Brush’s new band) and C.P.R. Cheap tickets are available, PM jimlad on the Nightshift forums.

Yes indeed Jimlad – the Dead Kennedys would’ve been in here but the gig was announced just after this was written. Definitely a Gig of Note, though!
