Band/musician submissions sought for OCM Open 2014 events

Oxford Contemporary Music (OCM), whose “raison d’être is to bring music, artists and audiences together in ways that encourage and create memorable and meaningful experiences for all”, have announced this year’s OCM Open events, to take place on 14 and 15 June.

The events are a showcase of new Oxford music, and comprise OCM Youth Open – 14 June at Pegasus, Oxford, and OCM Open – 15 June at Gloucester Green, Oxford. This is the seventh year that OCM Open events have been run, and OCM, along with Pegasus and Oxford City Council, are working with BBC Introducing in Oxford as a media partner to help spread the word.

Submissions are now welcomed for bands and musicians interested in taking part. As OCM say: “The annual showcases have an open submission process, offering musicians in the region the special chance to work with two of Oxford’s, and the UK’s, most innovative arts organisations. The selection process focuses on original creations and compositions with any genre considered.”

Previous acts that have been showcased with these events include Duotone, Seabuckthorn, Listing Ships and Kill Murray.

Interested in taking part? Send demos, links or MP3s to info@ocmevents.org by 5.00 pm on Friday 18 April. You’ll need to be 18 or under to apply for OCM Youth Open.
