The cheeky-yet-fierce, new-wave tinged, power-pop/indie-pop genre-busting Black Hats have a new single coming out on 16 April. ‘Kick In The Doors’ will initially be available from Oxford’s Truck Store, Rapture Records in Witney as well as ‘the usual online outlets’. The track, as well as B-side ‘Death By Record’, was produced by Sam Williams, who has previously worked with Supergrass, Plan B, The Go! Team and a billion other bands. Not literally a billion, but you know what we mean. And who knows if ‘B-side’ is a credible term these days, what with downloads and CDs and whatever else is out there.
The tracks on the single will feature on a forthcoming Black Hats mini-album, Austerity For The Hoi Polloi, which will be out on 30 April. Both single and mini-album are released on the Hoi Polloi Records imprint.
To celebrate this flurry of release activity the band play a pre-launch gig at Oxford’s Jericho Tavern on 17 March, supported by The Scholars and Matt Midgley. Limited edition copies of the single will be given free to the first fifteen people through the door, and the entirety of the mini-album will be played at the gig. Get your Black Hat on and visit the band’s website for more information.
