SUMMARY:Patrick McGinley & Felicity Ford / Liminal (David Prior & Frances Crow) / JD Zazie / Sybella Perry @ Holywell Music Room\, Oxford
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Audiograft 2014 festival.\nPatrick McGinley & Felicity Ford: In live performance Patrick & Felicity’s shared interest in field recording has developed into an attempt to integrate and resonate found sounds\, found objects\, specific spaces\, and moments in time\, in order to create a direct and visceral link with an audience and location. For this evening they will give a site-specific performance making use of the unique acoustic of the space.\nLiminal: 'Of this Parish' begins from the notion of a Parish as the zone on which a church bell could be heard\, exploring the relationship between various acoustic spaces: the personal and the shared\, the secular and the sacred\, the near and the distant\, the historical and the contemporary. Produced in collaboration with local bell-ringers\, four walks are made simultaneously by four sound recordists\, starting from the central location of a Church with tolling bells. In the performance these recordings are then played back from four corresponding pairs of loudspeakers\, eventually collapsing the entire acoustic territory of the Parish into a single building.\nJD Zazie: In Audiograft 2012\, Valeria Merlini (aka JD Zazie) ran 'Documenting Sound'\, a field recording workshop\, with Felicity Ford. For this edition of Audiograft\, she will return to remix some of the recordings collected. Using her extended mixing techniques\, she will present a live set containing field recordings from the Lost and Found concert held in the Holywell Music Room. With her live set\, she will reprise sound events which took place two years ago\, and which resonated in the same acoustic space. As if performing an act of sonic time-travel\, she will play with recorded memories from an earlier edition of the festival creating a new sound for now.\nSybella Perry: For Audiograft Sybella will present a variation of a composition originally conceived to test the acoustic resonance of a stone circle\, using sine wave tones and unamplified vocals. Set within the historical context of Holywell Music Room\, the first purpose built music room in Europe\, the performance will similarly engage with testing an early structure built purely for acoustic purposes. In an attempt to activate the architecture of the building and bring back to sounds from past performances.\nMore information at www.audiograft.co.uk/programme/thursday-1303
