DESCRIPTION:Tim Whitehead was a founding member of Loose Tubes and is one of the best known tenor players on the British jazz scene. His playing takes in many influences - it's deeply melodic\, steeped in blues and soul music but always with a contemporary\, sophisticated sense of harmony.\nIn 2009 he was the first ever musician to be awarded Artist in Residence at Tate Britain. During the residency he wrote Colour Beginnings\, a series of compositions written from transcribed improvisations performed in front of and in response to a selection of JMW Turner's watercolour sketches – this project has resulted in his most recent album Colour Beginnings.\nMore information at www.spinjazz.net/events
