DESCRIPTION:A huge 12-piece collective based in Leeds/London\, and with two members based here in Oxford\, Nubiyan Twist exude global groove-driven music\, taking in soundsystem culture and jazz improvisation. A five-part horn section sits alongside turntablist scratching and dub FX with a kickin’ rhythm section. The band are a culmination of musicians\, DJs and producers which gives the sound a neo-soul flavour\, with key influences taken from King Tubby\, Fela Kuti\, J Dilla and Herbie Hancock.
