SUMMARY:The Redlands Palomino Company / Case Hardin @ The Art Bar (formerly The Bullingdon)\, Oxford
DESCRIPTION:The Redlands Palomino Company is a UK country rock band\, described by the Guardian newspaper as “Alt-country heroes” and BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris as "Exceptional". The Sun newspaper said the band "prove that you don't have to be American to do great country rock". Next month they release their fourth full length album\, Broken Carelessly\, and it is a real cracker.\nMuch-loved UK band Case Hardin\, fronted by enigmatic songwriter and vocalist Pete Gow\, released their third studio album\, PM\, on Clubhouse Records last August. A follow up to the acclaimed Every Dirty Mirror released in 2011\, PM delivers nine original tracks written by Gow that focus on the lives of dark\, troubled souls\, whose aspirations have been compromised\, either by their own choices or by circumstance. Pitching Gow as narrator\, a voice for the underbelly of a corner of society too often ignored.\nMore information at www.empty-rooms.com/redlands14.html. SUMMARY:Sam Lee / The Magic Lantern @ St John The Evangelist Church\, Oxford
DESCRIPTION:Sam Lee’s music erupted onto the folk music scene in 2012 with his debut album Ground Of Its Own. Nominated for a Mercury Prize and generally heralded by many as something quite unique\, Sam’s music delves deep into tradition whilst remaining staunchly original. Mixing Japanese koto\, trumpet\, cello\, violin\, flute\, and multifarious percussion\, and drawing on the little known traditions of the Traveller community\, his music is full of ancient ritual and brand new life. This year sees the release of Sam Lee’s More For To Rise EP brimming with colour\, energy and sumptuous instrumental inter-play.\nThe Magic Lantern is the moniker of London based musician Jamie Doe who writes songs that sound deceptively spare and starkly beautiful\, but which open up to reveal a warmth\, humour and wisdom that belies his age.\nMore information at www.ocmevents.org/ocm/events/samleeandfriends2014
