SUMMARY:The Answer @ O2 Academy\, Oxford
DESCRIPTION:The road to rock ‘n’ roll glory is littered with the smouldering remnants of bands that blazed brightly for a few brief moments and then fizzled out in a cloud of thwarted ambitions. But every now and then a band emerges that walk\, talk and rock like true saviours of our beloved music’s spirit and soul.\nMore information at www.o2academyoxford.co.uk/event/62013/the-answer-tickets

They are Dave Jolly on melodeon (also Asha)\, Heather Horsley on piano and flute (also Token Women) and Kevin Adams on violin and octave mandola (also Stömp). SUMMARY:Nick Mulvey @ The Art Bar (formerly The Bullingdon)\, Oxford
DESCRIPTION:2014 starts as 2013 concluded for young Nick Mulvey\, as he prepares his third release in the lead up to the release of his debut album. Since parting ways with his former band Portico Quartet to focus on this solo venture\, the journey couldn't have been kinder in such a short space of time\, as the year closed with Nick nestled comfortably on the BBC Sound of 2014 Poll longlist.\nNew single 'Cucurucu'\, released 3 March\, is arguably Nick at his most immediate\, and acts as another tantalising taster to his forthcoming Spring album. It’s immediate in the sense that the melody lingers\, the beat typically shuffles infectiously\, and the almost unpronounceable title becomes your new middle name. Similarly to his recent Radio 1 playlisted single 'Nitrous' in late Autumn 2013\, 'Cucurucu' dances to Nick's offbeat tones and rhythms. His unorthodox guitar playing\, aided by a Cuban guitar course which taught him how to make the most of his quickdraw picking technique added a certain Spanish flavour to the sound\, and spins Nick into a world which straddles the leftfield.\nMore information at www.facebook.com/events/636699153058604
