DESCRIPTION:Brit Award (2012) winning producer of choice for everyone from Laura Marling to The Kings of Leon\, the multi-instrumentalist Ethan johns moved from behind the desk to live on stage with the prompting of Marling and the result\, so far has been staggering. The release of his debut album If Not Now Then When? in February 2013 was met with great critical acclaim.\nJohns is the son of the notable record producer and engineer Glyn Johns (The Rolling Stones\, Eric Clapton\, Led Zeppelin and The Who). He has worked with artists including Ryan Adams\, Ray LaMontagne\, Tom Jones\, Kaiser Chiefs\, Rufus Wainwright\, The Boxer Rebellion\, Crowded House\, The Vaccines\, The Staves and Crosby\, Stills and Nash. Although primarily known as a record producer\, mixer and engineer\, Johns has also toured with acts including Emmylou Harris\, Ryan Adams\, Ray LaMontagne and Tom Jones. He owns the indie record label Three Crows Music\, home to Julianna Raye\, Sarabeth and pianist/composer Dave Palmer. SUMMARY:Antelope / DJ Dan Ofer @ The Cellar\, Oxford
DESCRIPTION:Based between Birmingham and Bristol\, the eight-piece collective Antelope innovatively take elements of soul\, jazz\, dubstep\, drum'n'bass and jazzy deep house to conjure up the sound they define as their 'Midlands soul'.\nThey are comprised of a solid rhythm section\, keys from band leader Dorian Childs and a fat four part horn section full of wonderfully luscious harmonies. This groove machine is topped off by the soulful female vocals of Taan Parisse\, resulting in a live dance music experience of original compositions oozing depth and soul. The band originally formed in early 2012; musicians with backgrounds in jazz for a one-off event.
