Fresh from their trip to the home of all things heavy, Roadburn Festival, Oxford’s Undersmile are playing their first home-town show in absolutely ages. Recent Nightshift cover stars for the second time, Undersmile play crushing doom, mixed with hypnotic drones, discord and melody. They’re here promoting their second album Anhedonia (Black Bow Records/BTTFCK SRPRS RCRDS) and this will serve as their record release party.

Earthmass hail from Essex, but their sound is more tuned into the cosmos, shaking planets with their downtuned, progressive doom which weaves in elements of post-rock whilst clobbering you with galaxy-sized riffs.

Simply one of the best songwriters around, D. Gwalia is an enigma who resides in the shadows. At times hauntingly beautiful, at others harrowingly dark, D. Gwalia’s music is always compelling, thoughtful, and poetic. Proving that heavy is more than just a sound, and that distortion is more than an effect, prepare to be bowled over by this Welsh troubadour.
