The Beautiful Minimal (with music from Be Good) @ The Ultimate Picture Palace, Oxford

The Beautiful Minimal poster

The first screening of The Beautiful Minimal, which follows the story of a lonely young girl and her unusual means for escaping her mundane life. The film explores the importance of little joys, and what it truly means to be empty. The Beautiful Minimal is shot using digital cameras as well as with 35 mm colour negative film, and cross-processed 35 mm slide film on a Lomokino camera.

The Beautiful Minimal is a short film by first-time writer and director Jordan O’Shea, made with his Bear On A Bicycle cohorts Trenton Smith and Heather Lawson. Although this is O’Shea’s first venture into film, he enjoys a career as a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, whom according to the BBC “writes music you can get lost to”; was announced as The Huffington Post’s Act Of The Week’ recently, and was declared as a “multimedia Renaissance man” by MusicInOxford.

Heather Lawson (director of photography) is a multiple award-winning photographer, who has had exhibitions that spread the world, including UK and New York. She has been published in calendars, magazines, and has been commissioned for album artwork from numerous artists, and for fashion photography for clothing companies and make-up academies. Trenton Smith is a highly qualified audio engineer, who has worked for record labels, radio stations, and recording studios around the world. Originally based in Australia, he now resides in Oxford.

The evening will start with live music from Be Good, and the film will be followed by a Q&A from the director and crew.
