December’s Oxford Improvisers concert promises to be intriguing, woody, textural, powerful and atmospheric. Oxford-based cellist and instrument maker Bruno Guastalla has sent an invitation to many improvising string players in the UK. The invitation is still open; those who have already declared that they will play are:

• Violin: Sylvia Hallett, Philipp Wachsmann, Eric Clarke, Malcolm Atkins
• Viola: Jill Elliott, Ros Bleach, Sarah Verney Caird
• Cello: Richard Thomas, Johanna Messner, Bruno Guastalla
• Double-bass: Dominic Lash, Tim Fairhall

This will be complemented with duets and trios from the pool of excellent players from Oxford Improvisers Orchestra.
