‘The Listening Room’ is back at the Old Fire Station for 2014 with another local line up.

A Reluctant Arrow are a new three-piece feminist rock band, with songs by classically-trained vocalist Claire LeMaster and drummer Chris Kenning, with Shan Sriharan on bass. Coming from folk pop and post-punk influences, they combine dark, heavy themes with airy and infectious melodies.

The August List are a boy/girl two-piece who play ‘backwards country / porch folk’ with a startling rock‘n’roll attitude. Acoustic guitars, kick drums, harmonicas and their voices are deployed with verve and passion on songs that take in life, love, death and making merry.

Chris Ryder produces melodic, tender, and raw folk rock, with heavy/alternative influences. Chris spent most of his musical career gigging around the UK in bands, but says that playing solo “opened up a completely new side of writing which I was more content with than I’d ever been” leaving a sound that is lingering, candid, and red raw.
