MusicInOxford.co.uk's Gigs Of Note

Gigs of note for 11 August 2014-24 August 2014

Karma To Burn / Desert Storm / Hatemail / Evavoid / Overlord (Friday 15 August @ O2 Academy 2, Oxford): Popping up towards the end of a quiet week gig-wise, this one will be noisy enough to fill a hole. The awesome, riff-heavy rock’n’roll of Karma To Burn will be evenly matched against the combined weight of a very strong set of support acts.

Dead Kennedys / Fizzy Blood / Douglas PK / C.P.R. (Friday 15 August @ O2 Academy, Oxford): Ramping up the noise in the other half of the O2 Academy will be this recently-announced Oxford gig for legendary punks Dead Kennedys. It’s pretty much guaranteed to be a good one, and there are some tasty local supports to boot, including ex-Junkie Brush outfit Douglas PK.

Towersey Festival (Thursday 21 August to Monday 25 August @ Towersey): This properly long-running independent festival is celebrating its 50th birthday this year (!) with five days of music and entertainment. There’s all kinds of stuff lined up, including Seth Lakeman, Richard Thompson and The Bootleg Beatles. Happy birthday to Towersey!

Full details of these and loads more gigs can be found in the events calendar.
